Dr. Hiten Prajapati, a North Carolina native, provides exceptional eye care for his patients. After earning his Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Dr. Prajapati discovered his passion for optometry while working as an optometric technician. He went on to obtain his Doctor of Optometry degree from the Illinois College of Optometry and completed a residency in Ocular Diseases at the Huntington VA Medical Center.
Dr. Prajapati began his career in Raleigh as the Clinical Director of TLC Laser Eye Centers until 1998. In 2011 he proudly opened Triangle Family Eye Care (TFEC) so he could use his knowledge, expertise and experience in dry eye to help many more people. This has led him to become a sought-after lecturer on the topic. Doctor Prajapati is currently a Board member for DESA (Dry Eye Society of the Americas). This is a non-profit organization founded by dry eye specialists dedicated to advancing education, research, and clinical care for dry eye disease (DED). His two popular catch phrases to his patients are, “Dry eyes are no longer an 80yo disease but now a 10yo disease” and “The main symptoms of dry eyes are no symptoms”. Dr. Prajapati also opened TFEC to spend time with his patients as he loves educating them, taking them through the latest technologies he uses, fitting them with the best contact lens and glasses technologies and most of all helping them See Better, Feel Better and Live well. Of course, none of this is possible without his wonderful staff.
Known for his compassionate and diligent approach to patient care, Dr. Prajapati treats everyone as if they were a member of his own family. He lives in Durham and is married to his wonderful wife, Mansi, and they have three children. Jiya is in college at the University of Maryland, College Park and Ansh is in high school at Jordan High. His dog Remy (cavapoo) is their third child who keeps everyone in the family straight and brings more love than you could ever imagine. Dr. Prajapati enjoys traveling, playing and watching sports and spending quality time with his family.
